The piece’s syncopation and free-flowing nature poses a unique challenge for this level, which is something to be aware of if rhythm is not your strong suit. If you learn along with the video course, Carrie will walk you through exercises to master the rhythm and give you tips on how to make the piece sound improvisatory and free. Difficulty Level and Skills Required
Mid-Intermediate: (Click here for the Mid-Beginner version, for the Late-Beginner version click here). The right hand contains ornamentations (also called grace notes), quick placing, and a few right-hand harmonics. The left hand has rolled chords, 4-2-1 patterns, and quick rhythms. There is quite a bit of syncopation in this piece.
Type of Harp
The big harp version is for 33-string harps or larger, but the small harp version works for 22-string (C-C) harps or larger.
Range
For big harps: Lowest note is C, two octaves below middle C. Highest note is A, one and a half octaves above middle C. For small harps: Lowest note is C, one octave below middle C. Highest note is B, almost two octaves above middle C.
Levers/Pedals
In the key of C major. There are no lever changes in the piece.
