There is a lot of repetition in the sections, which makes it easier to learn.

I enrolled in this class with a free trial, just to see what the experience was like. The course is well laid out and easy to navigate and I felt the video segments were time just about right. For an online static course, the videos were supportive in tone and encouraging. Having had in person harp classes years ago, I felt the note-by-note explanation/direction just a tad tiring. This is late beginner, so I thought the ‘now place XYZ’ was a bit basic. But overall it is worth the price for the course.

Sally Gardens was the very first piece that I took with the Christy Lynn group. I kind of got it to the end, but every time I played there was some hesitations and I could never get it quite right.
Then I downloaded other lessons and it went the same way. Basically it takes me FOREVER to get it 80% right. But the next 20% took FOREVER SQUARED (you guessed it: I am a slow learner).
I have to say that, at the age of 73, the harp is my very first instrument and I have no previous music playing experience, and zero training in music reading.
I got discouraged but kept playing simple pieces on and off almost every day for the next months but no more than 5 or 10 minutes at a time.
Then recently, I took again the Sally Gardens sheet music and practiced again on my own for a few minutes a day. Suddenly it felt much easier. May be the muscle memory came back again. Now I can play the whole piece flawlessly every time. Yeah!!!
As for the accuracy of the sheet music instruction I find it much easier to substitute my own bracket for the last note of measure 13 and the first 3 notes of measure 13 (using fingers 1 2 3 4 instead of the ones suggested). For that reason I would give it a 4.5 stars. But since there are no half stars, I gave it a 4.

This was one of Christy’s earlier lessons, and it doesn’t break the song down into as small parts as some of her later lesson plans. It took me longer than usual to learn it, but it was worth it and sounds lovely!
