If you’re a fan of “The Hobbit” you’ll love this rendition of “Misty Mountains Cold” on the harp! The simplified melody and accompaniment make it a great piece if you want to solidify some basic harp skills while playing a really neat piece. What’s unique about this arrangement is that the big harp version plays this in the lowest register of the harp. So although the piece is simple, it’s filled with drama and really captures the character of the original song! Difficulty level & Skills required
Mid-Beginner: (Click here for the Early-Intermediate version). The right hand consists of overlapping brackets, dotted rhythms and replacing on the notes just played. The left hand is fairly simple and plays only with the 2nd finger throughout the piece, often times with just 2 notes per measure.

Type of harp
Big harp version is for 33 string harps or larger, but small harp version works for 22 string harps (C-C) or larger.
Range
For big harps: lowest note is C two octaves below middle C, highest note is A above middle C. For small harps: lowest note is C one octave below middle C, highest note is A one and a half octaves above middle C.
