Hi. Does anyone have any personal experience with Triplett harps? If you have personal experience with a Triplett, please let me know what you think. It’s my goal harp based on research. Next year I hope to go to a harp festival and hear it up close and personal. But I’d like to hear what you think.

Yes I have a triplet harp for 26years. It has great sound a little deeper than my double strung Dusty string, . I love both of them.

Thank you for your reply, Mary.

What type of wood is your harp made of?

I have been playing a Triplett Catalina 34 for four years. It is an older model, built in 2004 and it has Loveland levers which can be difficult to regulate. After a phone call with Debbi Triplett about my options, I have decided to trade my current harp in for a new Catalina. I chose to have it made in cherry. It will have Camac levers and a built-in pickup. It will also have a Celtic butterfly inlay on the soundboard. I love my Catalina and am beyond excited to be upgrading to a new one. Triplett Harps are wonderful people to work with and the harp I have been playing was beautifully made and has given me and the previous owner many years of enjoyment. People always comment on my harp’s beautiful, rich, deep and resonant sound. Debbi assures me that my new harp will sound just as good, if not better. It will be a long 4 months to wait for it to be shipped to me, but well worth it knowing I’ll end up with a fine instrument that will serve me well for the rest of my life. I’m sure you’ll be happy if you decide to buy a Triplett! Please let me know what you decide!

I wish you all the best with your new harp. It may sound like 4 months is a long time to wait, but it goes by fast, and they are custom making the harp for you. I would love to see a picture of it when you get it. I am considering getting a Triplett eventually. I’m currently saving up for a good harp. I just last night saw a video on a company I never heard of before – Lewis Creek. There’s so much to investigate before making a final decision. But, regardless, a good harp costs money, and I need to save up. So I have plenty of time to make a decision.

I’m curious about the Triplett you currently have. You say it has a deep, rich tone. What kind of wood is it made with? That is the other question to consider. Not just which brand, but what kind of wood? I know different types of wood impart different tonal qualities to the harp.

My current harp is walnut with a maple veneer on the soundboard. The new harp will be made of cherry with a matching veneer on the soundboard. I chose cherry based on appearance. I don’t expect there to be a discernable difference in sound.

It sounds lovely. I wonder if it’s possible to post photos here. It would be so nice to see a picture of it when it comes.

I have photos of my current harps in my profile and will definitely post one of the new harp when it arrives. I’m also having them put a Celtic butterfly inlay on the sound board.

I have a Triplette Celtic 34 string. It’s older (30 years?) and I had to restring it. The levers are blade levers which do work but aren’t has smooth as the newer flip up levers. The sound is very rich and the notes last a long time. I live in New Mexico. If you are close enough or traveling through, you are welcome to come try it.

How kind of you! Unfortunately, I live in NY. Maybe one day I will move to the southwest (I’m thinking Las Vegas area), but for now, I’m a bit far.

How wonderful that your harp is so full and resonant. This is what I have to consider.

    Thank you.

I used to live in Las Vegas and my parents still do. They moved there when they retired. From MA originally. I love Las Vegas 🙂

Well, this is a whole different conversation and one that I am interested in! But probably not the rest of the harp community. For my retirement, I have considered several places (FL, TN), but Henderson and Summerlin keep coming out on top. I have to go out there and experience it. Oddly, just like with harps, I do all my research online and narrow my choices down based on what I learn. My biggest concern with the Vegas area is how low Lake Mead is and that they may one day run too low on water to sustain all the people who are moving there. And unfortunately, since the pandemic, the price of wood has skyrocketed, tremendously increasing the price of houses.

Tripplett Harps are great! Good volume, and good sound! And the company is fabulous to

work with. They are always there for you and stand by their harps no matter what!!! That is not true for all harp makers.

You are right. That is so important! I have ordered a small Zephyr Triplett harp and have worked with Debbie Triplett on this order. She is wonderful. Helpful and patient.

When I gain some mastery, and have saved up enough money, I will probably buy a large Triplett. Also considering a Lewis Creek. Just don’t know right now. Also have to decide on how many strings.
