Harp for trauma therapy
Hello everyone. I am going to share something that is personal and also of a religious nature. I hope this does not offend anyone.
I went through trauma as a kid. I learned yesterday that my 11/12 year old self never fully healed. A specialist I spoke to told me to picture a deer caught in headlights. I am 40 years old now.
She said my nervous system seems to be in a state of chronic stress. My body is in a chronic fight or flight response in contrast to a relaxation state (parasympathetic).
This trauma (along with other things contained within it) has resulted in many health issues such as poor sleep, constipation, mental health problems, relationship problems, and whole host of other things I don’t have time to list.
She said our bodies were designed to handle things this way, but eventually meant to return to a relaxed state and healthy state.
As she was speaking, the words of Jesus that say “take up your cross and follow me” came to mind. I had to carry a cross at 11 years old…but Jesus was right there with me and still is!
God (Jesus) came in a human body and took on the sins of the world. The Bible says that in all the afflictions of His people, He was afflicted. So imagine the trauma in His Body. Some of you may know where I am going with this.
The harp is mentioned several times in the Bible and especially in the last book of the Bible, Revelation. It is seen as an instrument used to minister to God Himself!
Revelation 5:8
New Living Translation
And when he took the scroll, the four living beings and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp, and they held gold bowls filled with incense, which are the prayers of God’s people.
I am looking forward to learning music, the harp, and gaining the ability to minister to others as well as God one day. Thank you for reading. 😀
