I know basic technique is the foundation for good harp playing.

I also know thumbs up and closing fingers is essential.

My problem is that while playing I can’t seem to get that flat finger look but tend to form more of a fist shape.

My question is this. Is it really essential to achieve the flat finger technique or is it acceptable to form a fist?

You might try a lesson or two with the new teacher here, Carrie. That way she can help you fine tune your hand position so that it’s correct and works for you. There might also be music exercises to slowly work on your technique. 🙂
