    Hi,

Does anyone have a Gear4Music harp? They seem to be the ultimate lowest priced harp on the planet. I know you get what you pay for, but for a complete beginner, the lowest cost might be best to start and see if I want to stick with it.

I saw a YouTube video on the Gear4Music harp and the video presenter said it was adequate.

If anyone actually owns one, I would love to hear about it. Did it fall apart? Do the levers work appropriately?

As an aside, I own a 19-string Warning harp, which is made from cardboard. So even presswood would be a step up for me. Plus, it would have more strings.

I’d really like to hear about personal experience with these Gear4Music harps. I could get a 22-string or 29-string. Both very affordable.

    Hi,

I guess I wasn’t clear. By lessons, I meant the lessons on this website, not with a private teacher.

Thank you for your reply. You recommend the Ravenna Dusty Strings over the Fullsicle? It’s a bit more expensive, but not very much so.

I’m looking at the Dusty Strings webpage on the Ravenna. I see the option for the Camac levers. I also see an option for gut strings. Is that a worthwhile upgrade, or not important?

@eileen.korby Hi, Eileen — You’re so smart to be doing some research before purchasing your harp. I agree with the advice @titia.stultitia has given you. I started by renting a Ravenna 34 and ended up purchasing it. It has nylon strings, and I’ve been very happy with it.

Hi. I’m glad you like the Ravenna 34. Do you find 34 strings complete? No loss not having 36?

      Thanks!

@eileen.korby A 36-string Dusty has two higher strings than a Ravenna 34. Both harps’ lowest notes are the same: the C two octaves below middle C. I do use the lowest strings. However, I’ve never missed those highest two strings. I play mostly Celtic music, and very rarely play anything that goes higher than the D two octaves above middle C. That means my Ravenna’s four highest strings are almost never used. If it were a 36-string Dusty, then there would be six unused high strings.
