• Fingers Slip

Hi. I have a problem when I practice. My fingers often slip off the string as I’m playing it, then it hits other strings. Do you ever experience a finger slipping off the string? How do you stop that?

It is difficult to troubleshoot without seeing your hands and how they are slipping off the strings. If I were to make a guess what might be causing that issue, I would look at the angle of your hand and how your fingers are gripping the strings. If your finger tips are not gripping into the strings enough, I can see them slipping off easily while playing. Here is a Harp Tuesday video on gripping the strings with our hands: https://youtu.be/NDjitMpT1P4

I’m watching it right now. It’s so funny how much he reminds me of Dr. Greger. Do you know of him. They have a similar manner. A totally irrelevant comment. LOL.

I’m watching now. Thank you for the video.

Just looked up Dr. Greger. That’s hilarious! 🤣

Dr. Greger has a specific patter. He will talk about some aspect of nutrition and then say: But we don’t know because there has never been a study…. Until now! When he says “Until now,” it reminds me of how Josh Layne says “Harp Tuesday.” They have similar speech patterns, I think.

I would say it’s my ring finger that slips the most.

Watching him, his string spacing is much wider than mine. I don’t think I could get my fingers between the strings to the same degree that he does. But perhaps I don’t “grip enough.” I’ll have to notice tomorrow when I practice.
