    Hy folks,

best greetings from Germany ahead! I wonder if anybody knows Cindy Blevins and her “Interactive Harp book”. This harp school comes along with the possibility to download mp3 files. This appears to be good material for more and intensive training for a beginner like me. But I could not find any ratings and wonder if it is a trap. What do you think?

I’m not familiar with the Interactive Harp books. However, if you’re looking for a self-teaching method book for beginners, you might want to check out Play the Harp Beautifully, Level 1, by Pamela Bruner. I found that book to be well organized, progressive, and easy to follow. I don’t have the lessons DVD, but there’s a sample on her website: https://pamelabrunermusic.com/harp_books.php

I looked up blevinsmusic.com and she has a lot of things there for many instruments. Sounds like she will be going totally digital when the books are gone. I don’t see a place to contact her?? I went to Sheetmusicplus (all digital download site) and there are quite a few things there by her. I don’t think they would put things there that aren’t real. Oddly, I have a good friend here in Casper, Wyoming, USA named Cindy Blevins and she doesn’t play any instruments.

Matthias, I actually HAVE a Blevins harp. They are made in Grand Junction, Colorado in the USA. I have visited with Cindy Blevins before and she is very knowledgeable and helpful! Blevins harps has new owners now. You can google them. There is a Facebook Group for Blevins harps. Mine is a 34 string one with a pretty mellow base sound. It was an affordable and portable one for me to take to Hospice, ICU, nursing homes etc.

Matthias, I’m now putting two and two together – I actually HAVE a Blevins harp made in Grand Junction, Colorado, USA. I’ve talked both to Cindy Blevins and her husband. She is very knowledgable and helpful! They have retired and sold the business, but it still exists with new owners. You can find them on Facebook.

I have ordered some of Cindy Blevins’ sheet music. I just learned her arrangement of Shenandoah, and it’s beautiful! I wish I had been into harps when my parents lived in Grand Junction. I would have visited their store for sure. I can’t speak to Cindy’s methods book. I have the Pamela Bruner book mentioned above and it was easy to follow.

I have 4 of her books. I do enjoy her music. I played “Watching Lily Sleep” at my niece’s wedding only after having my harp for 2 years. I don’t know anything about her downloadable music.
