I love the arrangements Christy-lyn has put together for us, but I’m always on the lookout for more beautiful pieces for small harps! I would love some recommendations geared toward 26-string harps (or smaller).

I’ll get the ball rolling: I really love Anne Crosby Gaudet’s small harp arrangements – I’m working on her Watercolor on White collection and really enjoying the challenge!

Thanks for the tip, I’m also interested in finding arrangements for small harp, because mine have 27 strings. I’ll follow this discussion!

If you like early music, I can recommand Claire Piganiol’s website (and it’s not because she’s named Claire haha): https://www.earlyharpmusic.net/

Not everything is for 26 strings, but a lot of medieval or Renaissance sheet music are adapted for small harp. Sometimes there is only a few lower notes, but you can also play everything an octave higher, which fits sometimes very well for this kind of music!

Hi @alyssa.cowell This is a GREAT discussion topic! Could you create this discussion again under the sub-forum called “lap harps” rather? Here: https://www.learningtheharp.com/forums/forum/harps/lap-harps/

I think it will be easier for people to find there, instead of here under styles of harp music, which is meant to be about different genres or musical styles.

Thanks for using the forum, I think it’s a great place to discuss specific topics like this one. Very exciting! ??

I’ve purchased a lot of Anne Crosby Gaudet’s music for 26 strings.

Melody’s traditional music has several books for small harps. I haven’t purchased any of these yet but they’re on my list!

My harp has 32 strings but what you can do if you are missing the low bass strings is play a 5th or a 3rd instead of the 7th indicated in the harmonies. Works nicely too. I’ve stopped using other people’s arrangements and make my own. My interest is baroque so I’ll use harpsichord pieces and adapt them to fit. Pieces made for the smaller early keyboard instruments may also suit as many of those had only 2-3 octave range.

Good afternoon! I know this thread hasn’t been active in awhile, but I wanted to share a link to new-to-me harpist Nadia Birkenstock. She is arranging lovely songs for 26 string harps and has shee tmusic available:

I am enjoying her song “Everywhere” today if you want to take a listen:
