• Adding levers

    Hello all!

I have an older DS Allegro with partial levers-C and F-and I would like to add more. I contacted DS and they said I would need to be willing to experiment on my own as far as lever placement and drilling but they have some tools I could buy to assist. Of course a harp tech would be best.

I can’t find one in my area-the nearest harp center suggested a facility that is several states away and isn’t planning any road trips at this time.

Any thoughts? Should I develop the capacity to arrange music into the keys I have? I’m already going to be doing some of that since I have a smaller harp. Or take a deep dive into the unknown by trying to research and DIY this myself?

Has anyone done this? I know there are some kit builders out there in the LtH community and I’d love to hear from you!

    TIA

What area are you? My teacher has a harp tech that comes to her, in Oklahoma, but only once a year or so. Maybe the group here might know of a tech that would travel. (I have no idea about adding levers, so good luck!!)

If you haven’t gotten this taken care of yet, you can try Charles Vavra in Anderson. I know he installs levers for people, but I don’t know how busy he is right now.

I am going to be installing the levers myself, as we built a harp from a kit. We also played with 3d printing the levers and sticking them on with double sided tape. Perhaps one could fine tune the lever positioning like that before commiting to drilling holes. Drilling holes is not that scary either once precise placement is found. :o)

There are plenty of vids on youtube explaining how to install and tune them – the musicmakers have a good one on camac levers.

    Best of luck!
