  • 40-string – Prelude or Ana?

Hi there! I’m thinking of upgrading to a 40-string harp from Fullsicle both for myself (self-learning) and for my daughter (taking proper harp lessons). Daughter’s harp teacher recommended Salvi Ana and Lyon & Healy Prelude. Any thoughts of which one to get?

    Thanks a lot!

I have owned the Ana for several years. I purchased it because it has the sound quality of a larger harp in a smaller package. I have not been sorry! It is a fine instrument!

Check the height of the levers on either harp to see if your daughter or yourself can reach them all.

Hi Hazel! Not sure if you’ve gone ahead with your purchase yet, but I would also consider the larger harps from Marini. They have some surprisingly large lever harps, and in my personal experience when I played their large harps I felt that the sound is much bigger than the Ana or the Prelude. I was blown away by the full bass sound, and how it fills the room! It’s worth considering 😊 https://www.marinimadeharps.com/

Hi, Hazel, I don’t know if you have already purchased your harp. Now, I have similar suggestion as you have got. I had SALVI Ana for many many years, second hand, build in the 90′ and I even could give it as an exchange to a pedal harp from SALVI Daphne 40. A harf builder said: the Ana has such a great sound and still in good condition, so he will give it to music student, who’s got not enough budget to buy a or rent a harp….. I can say, I have been very very satisfied with the Ana from Salvi. I also loved the full levering included in the price, YEAH. – But the BEST way to find out, rent those harps if you can for a month or so to try them out at your home. Then you will find out, wich model you love most. I did that with the pedal harp and I never regreted it. I own now, a pedal harp SALVI Daphne 40, and a full Lever Harp from a harp builder of my choice (wood, weight, strings , levers, ecetera).💞👌 Good Luck!!!
