This arrangement of “Inisheer” will soon become a favorite, with its rich harmonies and rhythmic complexity. You won’t want to stop playing! You may find yourself challenged in new ways by the grace notes and coordinating of the two hands, but the challenge is well worth the reward. If you learn this piece with the video course, Carrie will give you practical tips on how to best play and practice this piece.

Difficulty level & Skills required

Mid-Intermediate: (Click here for the Late-Beginner version). The right hand consists of syncopated rhythms, grace notes, and quick placing giving it a special Celtic flare. The left hand consists of rolled chords, octaves, and cross-unders. This level has greater rhythmic, technical, and harmonic complexity than the late-beginner version. There are no lever changes!

Of all the courses so far, 9 months in, this has been my favorite. Happy to understand grace notes. I can’t play it fast, just finished the last lesson, so will review review, especially that very tricky ending, but this one was really worth it! I will play it every day, and hopefully, someday post a video!

Lovely piece, great if you want something Celtic or if you just want to learn/practice grace notes.

Love this song and the arrangement. I’ve finished the course and just need to practice, practice, practice to smooth out all the places i hesitate and get it up to full speed. That will be a big challenge for me, but it sounds pretty when played slower too.

Very pretty piece. I know the melody but didn’t know the name. I may purchase the piece to practice my grace notes or as some Celtic harpists say the snaps.
