Fields of Gold is a famous Sting song, made even more popular by Eva Cassidy. This harp arrangement is simple to play but still gives the same atmosphere. This arrangement gives a feeling of space because of the long chords in the left hand, which really allow the beautiful sound of the harp to ring out.

Excellent course, with beautiful lessons. This was my first choice of course and was not disappointed. Christy Lyn takes you through the course with enthusiasm, skill and massive amounts of support. I am so incredibly pleased I found this sight. I haven’t polished this song off yet and will need lots of further practicing, however, I’ve been able to learn it and I’m so thrilled and the bonus is, my husband recognises it! Can’t wait for my next course. Thank you and I highly recommend it.

It was my first song that I learned here. I loved it! It was enough simple and Christy-Lyn is really inspiring teacher, so encouraging and positive. I’m so happy that I chose this lesson:) It sounds so beautiful! Also I enjoyed the process of learning by heart, by hearing and feeling the music.

Loved learning this, even though there were some challenging aspects. Very worthwhile and has helped me move ahead quickly to my next piece which is more advanced.

I have been learning harp for a month and a half and this is a little bit slow for me but glad I bought thiscourse as it got faster at the end and I love the song. I am the only adult who started learning the harp with my teacher. There are other 5 little kids. We had group lesson and I showed my teacher and I am on Suzuki harp book just learned to put 2 hands together. I ended up playing this for the other students. It was wonderful!!!! My teacher was open to polish my field of gold playing. Thank you

This is broken down so beautifully to guide you through the song and the needed skills. One of my favourite courses to date!

    Encouraging song to learn

    Marilyn Piccioni (verified owner)

This song was enjoyable for me to learn. I had challenged myself with a couple of more difficult songs that took me a long time to (almost) master. It was refreshing to try “Fields of Gold” because it is a less complex piece that has lots of repeated sections. And it is pretty, of course! Thank you!

    Fun with Fields of Gold

I really enjoyed this course though the syncopation is a challenge for me. I should have begun with easier late beginner pieces and worked my way up as this is the last in the order of difficulty. However, I did play it and while my timing is not spot on by any means, it is clearly recognizable as a friend’s child came up to me when I was playing to tell me they knew the song I was playing. So I’m doing well enough that it is clearly recognizable! Whoo! That was not the only compliment received. I would not have learned it so quickly without Christy=Lyn’s video teaching. The courses make it so much easier to learn than trying on my own!

Love this , an enjoyable challenge with syncopation! Humming the tune instead of counting works for me as I play.

The practicing of the beat ( Christy clapping) was super helpful in remembering the pace for me to go on the strings!

Loved this course. I don’t usually complete courses (haha) but this one I did from start to finish and in between! Great pace, great options for changing pace, and tips on joining pieces together I never thought of before. I really appreciated that this took a short period of time for me to pick up, and when I was stuck I could go back and listen to the pieces I was stuck on. Thank you so much!

I got my harp for Christmas and this was the third piece I learned and my husbands favourite so far. These lessons are so easy to follow, even for a beginner like me. Great instruction and encouragement which makes these lessons extremely enjoyable. This one is very fun to play on the harp. Highly recommended.

    Fun course

Great song but I think this is a bit more advanced than late beginner. I learned half the song thru lessons, but then decided to really focus on sheet music so learned the rest by site before refreshing thru the final few videos. I appreciate the instruction but would love courses that help push and improve site reading. Excited for my next one! It’s a fun course and I finished it the beginning of this month. I was able to learn half through the videos and the remainder reading the sheet music. Appreciated how the measures were broken up for learning.

    Feels great!

I have been working on Fields of Gold, and except for a bit more polishing, it is finished. This was my first lesson with you. I feel like I connected well with your teaching style. It reminded me of an ear class I took at a harp workshop, although that one turned out to be quite over my head. I came out of it frustrated and discouraged. I’m feeling the opposite of that today! I’m wondering how it will sit in my memory some weeks from now. Sometimes when I look back at a page of music I haven’t played for a while, I feel like I am looking at a completely new song. However, I feel like this lesson worked a different part of my brain. I noticed right away that if I’ve made a mistake while playing, it is very easy for me to know where I should be and get back on track. That’s a new experience, it feels great!

Hi! I LOVED this one! I have a favorite Bluegrass group (Dismembered Tenneseans) who do this piece. The bass player has a powerful mezzo/alto voice and she can really belt this out. Sounds good on the harp!

This is my first course. I love the way you break it up! I nee to start doing that on the piano. I tend to want to play the whole thing thru instead of concentrating on small chunks. Can’t wait for my next course!
