You don’t have to be a Lord of the Rings fan to enjoy this exciting arrangement of Concerning Hobbits! You’ll use the full range of your harp, really capturing the rich harmonies and imagery from the movie. It’s such a rewarding piece to play, and people will love hearing it! If you learn along with the video course, Carrie will give essential instructions like how to play certain notes “staccato” and others “legato” to help you imitate other instruments and really tell a story throughout the piece. She’ll also help you master those complex rhythmic patterns and show you how to practice the tricky passages so they feel exciting rather than intimidating.

Difficulty Level and Skills Required
Late-Intermediate: (Click here for the Late-Beginner version, and here for the Early-Intermediate version). The right hand consists of complex rhythmic patterns, some chords under the melody, and at times serves as a continuation of the left-hand accompaniment. The left hand has large 10th interval rolled chords, quick alternating 4-2-1 patterns, and a few lever changes. Both hands use the staccato technique that requires very controlled, exact placing to muffle strings that were just played.
Type of Harp
Big harp version is for 33 strings or larger, but small harp version works on 26 strings or larger.
Range
For big harps: Lowest note is D, almost two octaves below middle C. Highest note is D, just over two octaves above middle C. For small harps: Lowest note is D, below middle C. Highest note is G, two and a half octaves above middle C.
Levers/Pedals
In the key of D major (F#s and C#s needed). A few G# and Bb lever changes throughout.
