Late-Beginner: (for the Late-Intermediate version click here). The right hand consists mostly of a repetitive four-note pattern of overlapping brackets. Tricky for beginners

This was super fun, Carrie is so encouraging! Beginners could become snow blind playing the repeated figures over and over; is there a trick to mastering them, such as “always focus on beat 1 of the next bar” or something like that? When the scales come, it would be great if Carrie could take us through practicing the 8th notes in varying rhythms, so when you come back to playing straight it feels easy. thx!

As usual, memorizing/absorbing the notes to play is the easy part, I love the technique reminders and hints and all the encouragement… I play comfortably at the mid beginner level, so this is stretching me…now, practice practice practice 🙂

Thank you so much for teaching this! I really appreciate how you go through each section and fingering. Also how you remind us of the dynamics. I really feel that I can play it confidently.

    Technics are very well explained

    Nina Neu (verified owner)

The piece had some technical aspects that were new for me but it was fun to learn them as Carrie played slow and explained all steps of the way in good detail. I would have wished for 1 or 2 more videos with connecting the parts but overall this was a very enjoyable class and the music is beautiful. I also really liked the in depth explanations about the fingering technique and the musicality of this piece and the extra video about the harmonics was super helpful. It was my first piece with harmonics in it. Thank you Carrie! I am looking forward to learn the more advanced version one day 😃

    Fun and Challenging!

    Victoria Sanchez (verified owner)

I enjoyed the repetition of playing with my right hand the three notes over and over again…C,B,C,A…C,B,C,A…. for me it wasn’t that easy, but very challenging, and such a great exercise! I’m still working on the harmonics but when they are played correctly, they sound so pretty! Carrie is such a great teacher too! Encouraging and positive throughout the video lesson!

Sounds and feels fancy but is so simple!

    Cayla Dickenson (verified owner)

This piece incorporates fingering and technical challenges (like harmonics!), but don’t let that scare you! It is broken down into simple parts and pieces. There is a TON of training and information to be had in the videos, more than usual even, to help you really grasp all the stuff that sounds challenging. You will come out the other side of this piece doing more than you thought you could as a Late Beginner and you will feel SO EMPOWERED as a result! And you will be able to use this later as you progress to the more advanced version. Strongly encourage you to pick up this piece any time during the year for a truly beautiful song that will both challenge and inspire you.
