“Prelude in C” is an advanced piece that is a real challenge! It is relaxing to listen to, and for some of us it is a dream piece we’ve been longing to play. This piece sounds quite straight forward, but the lever changes on the second page are very fast, and there are many places that require accurate damping of the notes. This piece is for those who have a solid foundation of mid to late-intermediate technique and are ready for a challenge that will take commitment and persistence. We recommend using the Video Course even if you usually learn from the sheet music alone, because it includes a lot of input about how to accomplish those unusual lever changes with the single-note damping that is required.

Difficulty level & Skills required
Advanced: Although the finger work is repetitive and not too much of a challenge for a late-intermediate to advanced harp player, this piece includes very fast lever changes with single note damping and for this reason is difficult to get up to speed.

This piece is very charming, but ‘ can it be played in a key with not so many lever changes? I would like to learn this song properly, but hesitate because of so many lever changes. Cheers, Stephanie.🦋.

Hi Stephanie, the lever changes aren’t because of the key, it’s because the melody requires them. Multiple lever changes can be a challenge but the song is really lovely, so it’s up to you to choose whether or not to try this one! 🙂

That sounded so beautiful. Thanks to your detailed teaching, I’m sure you will make those lever changes less formidable.
