Clear and easy “How to play chords ” lessons

    Sonia Busby (verified owner)

I took both the 1 and 2 Playing from Chords workshops and felt they both were very helpful. I knew and understood the basic concepts of chords because as a teenager I played the guitar but I didn’t know exactly what notes were used to make the difference cords🤔so workshop #1 was a great refresher and workshop #2 was very informative . I knew the basics about key signatures, the Circle of Fifths and even transposing a song from one key to another because of my Guitar playing in my youth. But I learned a lot about which note of the scale makes up certain chords and how to change a Major chord in to a 7th chord, what a slash chord is and what makes it a sus/aug/dim chord 🤗 it was all so interesting and fun to learn the names and ways to make different chords on the harp💕thanks for making these workshops and I look forward to possible chord workshops #3 & 4💞

Great Course for Learning More about Chords

This is an excellent course for learning what the “sus” in Asus means or what a G7 or C2 means. The handouts are wonderfully helpful for future chord playing.

Thank you for sharing this course. I did not take course 1 because I have some basic knowledge and I found this course very useful to expand my knowledge and doubts about playing chords, patterns and extra tips for finding the Key on a chord sheet music!

Exactly what I've been looking for

This is exactly what I needed to better accompany myself on the harp. For context, I can accompany myself on guitar and piano, but was having trouble translating that into the harp. The worksheets, accompaniment patterns, and chord explanations are excellent resources. I skipped all of the live questions and listened at 1.5 speed during topics I already know. Thank you!

My thoughts on the Playing from Chords workshop, 2

    Jane MacFerren (verified owner)

I really enjoyed this workshop as well as the part 1 workshop. This was part 2 and I learned more about the not so familar chords, their symbols and what they mean. How they were demonstrated in the sample songsl I went through this twice so far. I probably will have to go over it again because I forget’ It’s so nice to be able to come back and review whenever you need to. I learned some things about these chords that I never knew before. I now know what a “sus” chord is and a diminished chord is and how they sound. I’m looking forward to getting more workshops. I have 4 in mind so far but I have to wait to get more credits. Thank you so much for all your hard work Christy-Lyn!

    Thorough yet understandable

This was excellent! Christy-Lyn covered so much information in a very clear and thorough manner. There were 12 pages of handouts with very helpful charts of information. She also gave opportunities to practice the very concepts she was teaching. Although we might not be able to grasp everything in one fell swoop, the workshop is there to review whenever we want to challenge ourselves to the next step.

Excellent course for taking that next step

    Sharon Cullen (verified owner)

I have been waiting for a course like this. Christy-Lyn teaches all the codes and tricks so that you can play comfortably with major and minor and suspended chords. She also gives a chart for transposing chords and keys to be suitable for the harp. It is definitely not for a beginner but someone who understands the basic chords and wants that next step. We take a couple of her arrangements and play the chords along with her singing. She also goes deeper into different chord variations so that you don’t play the same thing all the time.
I am having surgery on my right hand and I can practice these things and play chords to music using only my left hand until I am able to join in with the right again. It will be an excellent thing to work on while I am healing. Although she teaches this class using both hands it isn’t necessary. So this class is also good for someone in This situation where they can play with only left or right hand.

I would love to delve deeper into chords, and key signatures etc. Maybe a third class on this to dive even deeper would be good. I know there is limited time with these courses, but for me just doing something because it is written is okay in the interim but I like a deeper foundation so that all the pieces stick and fit together. Christy-Lyn started this in this course but there is so much more to learn. Please keep these excellent classes coming. It was excellent!

Easy to grasp, Fun to learn

I am not a trained musician. I do not know or understand music theory. The great wonderful and Art of Christy Lynn is that she has made both the Chord I and Chord II class so accessible that you will not worry, fear, be lost or tremble to take either class!

I came away from my class with so much that I can now review study and employ. Another great asset is that once you take this course, it is available to you over and over and over again so you never have to worry about being overwhelmed. You can just play and have fun with it.

I am very grateful that I took both class one and two in chords😘
