I play in local care centers and one resident asked for Ghost Riders in the Sky, a song Johnny Cash sang, along with many others. I looked it up online and came up with a simple version that satisfied the request. It is a far cry from Johnny Cash’s version, however!

Our widowed neighbor turned 88 last week, so we took my harp over and I played him Happy Birthday, along with a few other quick selections. His family was there celebrating with him, so they enjoyed the impromptu “concert.” Last year I played some songs for he and his wife before she died of lung cancer and then at Christmas time played carols for him, his sister-in-law, and another neighbor.

I also played last Christmas at the local library, and hope to do the same this year. I always feel like I am jumping into a swimming pool and can’t swim, right before I play the first song! After a while, the nerves calm down and my sweaty hands aren’t shaking so much! Can anyone relate? 😉
