Build the skills to play the harp beautifully and musically
6-week program with Carrie and Christy-Lyn
Do you relate to any of these?
You finished Harp Beginnings 1, and feel unsure of what to do next
You’ve been playing for a while but feel stuck at beginner, not making much progress
You want to go back and fill in technique gaps that are holding you back
Or your harp’s been gathering dust and you’re ready for a fresh start – but without going all the way back to day one
If you said ‘yes’ to any of those, then this program could be the right next step for you!
I felt stuck at beginner too…
Carrie’s Story
You might be surprised that when I first started learning the harp, my technique was… not great!
I managed for a while, but eventually I hit a wall. I struggled to play the kind of music I loved, and my progress was very slow. It was frustrating and honestly, pretty disheartening.
Eventually, I found a new teacher who helped me go back to basics. I had to un-learn a lot, which wasn’t easy after years of doing it a certain way, but she completely changed my playing.
Once my foundation was solid, everything became easier and more joyful.
That’s why I care so much about helping you get the right foundations in place so you can move forward with your playing.
In our Harp Beginnings 2 program, we’ll take you through a journey of learning the foundational skills needed to play beautifully at a late-beginner level. It really is possible! 🙌🏼
And if you’re feeling stuck – it’s not too late. It is totally possible to learn to play beautifully and fluently, no matter who you are. The choice is up to you to make the most of the time you have.
In 6 weeks you’ll learn to:
Tell a story through your playing… instead of just plucking notes
Correct any unhelpful habits and re-program your technique so that you can play freely
Gain the skills needed to play more challenging music
Create your own music from the heart by learning to improvise

Meet your instructors
Carrie
Hi there, I’m Carrie. I’ve loved the harp since I was young, having been introduced to it when I was only eight years old! The music teacher at my elementary school was a harpist, so she created a program for the kids so they could learn how to play. I almost didn’t sign up because I was insecure about being unable to read sheet music, but I’m so thankful I didn’t let that stop me!
I was hooked the moment I plucked my first string, and I haven’t stopped since. I went on to study harp in college, and after graduating, I taught harp to middle and high school students before my path led me to Learning the Harp.
It’s a blessing to create courses that teach others how to play an instrument I love. That shared passion is like no other, and I can’t wait to see you thrive on this journey as you play your harp.

Christy-Lyn
Hi, I’m Christy-Lyn! When I first started learning to play the harp at 25 years old I assumed I wouldn’t get very far because I thought I was ‘too old’ to have much success. I had always heard that if you didn’t start as a child, you shouldn’t even bother trying.
But once I started learning to play the harp I progressed so much quicker and further than I ever expected: I was performing within 3 months!
10 years later I now run Learning the Harp, which I started with my two sisters, creating online courses to teach thousands of adults all around the world to play the harp.
As a trained Occupational Therapist, I’ve been able to extract what helped me to learn so quickly and apply it to hundreds of students, tweaking the method to suit different personalities and learning styles.
The result is thorough in-depth video courses that act as practice guides: they take you through learning every note in a way that makes you feel like your own harp teacher is sitting with you.
I can’t wait to walk this journey with you as you learn to play the harp from the beginning!

You can move beyond the beginner stage.
If you’re feeling stuck with your harp playing, you’re not alone. It might even feel like flowing, expressive harp playing is something other people can achieve, but not you.
But that’s just not true!
Moving from mid-beginner to late-beginner is a big leap, and it’s normal to hit roadblocks during this phase. You’re not lacking talent, you’re just missing a few key skills and strategies to help you cross the bridge.
So if you have been wondering whether you’re really “cut out” for playing the harp, please don’t give up on yourself! With the right guidance, support, and a step-by-step approach, the next level of your playing might be closer than it seems.
We believe you can become proficient at the harp… it’s worth giving it a try, isn’t it?
Harp Beginnings 1 and 2 are running over the same period, so you’ll have to choose which will suit you best. Visit this page for a full comparison of the two programs.
Next group starts February 10, 2026
Sessions are from 4:30pm – 5:30pm EST / EDT
No problem! All the sessions will be recorded so you can watch them in your own time. The recordings will be uploaded soon after the live session so that you can keep up with the weeks and participate with the rest of the class.
You’ll also have 24 hour access to the Harp Beginnings 2 private group where you can ask questions and interact with other students.
You can expect to spend 30-40 minutes a day practicing, with the weekend to just have fun with your harp. We highly recommend that you set aside time to work through the videos consistently every day, because doing it all on the weekend doesn’t create muscle memory as well.
You should be playing at a Mid-Beginner level to join this program. You will be moving from Mid-Beginner to Late-Beginner and learning some more complex skills, so if you’re just starting out, or you feel like you really need to go back to the basics of harp, then Harp Beginnings 1 is a better choice for you right now.
You’ll have unlimited access to the program, so that you can come back and recap whenever you need! The downloadable PDFs are yours to download and keep.
We provide sheet music in case you’d like to follow along, but Christy-Lyn and Carrie teach each note verbally and play each one so you can check that you’re getting it right. You may find that you learn to read sheet music by mistake as you go!
Right now you’re weighing up the cost of buying this program… but what’s the cost of not buying it? You might end up with an expensive piece of furniture gathering dust. The harp is quite difficult to learn to proficiency on your own, because there are a few common mistakes that can really hold you back. Why not save yourself from all the disappointment of trying and failing, and rather give yourself the best chance of success?
If you have a harp with at least 22 strings that go from C-C, you’ll be able to play all of the songs in this program. You don’t need any levers on your harp.
