Hi Sharon, I’m a fellow silver flutist who suffers from chronic cough (thanks to a bad flu epidemic at the private school where I was directing a play …) Like you, I’m at the beginning level of harping, and I’ve come to feel that the best way for me to approach the harp is the way I approached the flute, way back when I was nine: one step at a time. As adults, I think we somehow expect to be playing like virtuosos from the start, when in our hearts we know we just have to go back to the beginning…and learn the way we did when we were children. Which is a way of staying young, right? So I say, let’s enjoy the youthful journey!
