After hearing Luzma’s Dance on Youtube, I was so excited to bring a new style to my harp playing- mostly celtic. I have long loved flamenco guitar ( not inspired to play, but do love listening to guitar) and I was wondering if anyone here is learning or wanting to learn these different rythmns? I haven’t had time to explore yet, and it’s probably beyond my ability at this time, but there is an easy version of Luzma’s Dance in the book I purchased….

Hi!! I know it’s been a while since you first posted, but that sounds very interesting! What was the name of the book you bought?

Hi, it seems my original reply didn’t post?🤔 It’s by Dr Alfredo Ortiz, Vol 1 of the International Rhythmic Collection for All Harps or Piano. 😊 His wife also makes harp related jewellery. I purchased it from his site http://www.alfredo-rolando-ortiz.com

Javier, one of my Talking Harps teammates, is Spanish, and he introduced a lot of beautiful Spanish music to me including Luzma’s Dance and also this piece called Canarios written by Gaspar Sanz https://youtu.be/rd9yH1-zKAk I am hoping to make a way to play this piece on the harp, and I am definitely interested in learning more Spanish music! 😀

I’d love to add at least one piece to my repertoire. So much beautiful music to learn! I’ve loved flamenco guitar since I was a child but never had the desire to actually play it. It’s been said that the instrument ‘chooses’ you. This has been my experience with flute and now harp… 😊

Today I saw an accordion player, and he played what sounded like a tango (to my untrained ear). It would be such fun to learn something like that on the harp.

Tango to Evora is accessible for harp, it’s by Loreena McKennitt. 😊

I would really like to be able to play like Roberto Perera. So many interesting techniques. I play the Simon & Garfunkel version of this song. But this is amazing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TqJlvgvKLmw
