• Sheet Music (newbie)

Hi all! I am brand new to music, the harp, everything! I am loving starting to learn, and just finished my first early-beginner song. I was wondering, does anyone have specific suggestions on books, online resources, etc., on reading sheet music specifically? I’d love to follow along and keep a book of all that I learn, but it is still almost gibberish to me 🙂

Thanks for any suggestions! ButterflySnailEvergreen Tree

Hi, Michelle. Your post made me think back to my first couple of weeks with the harp. There was so much to learn, it seemed overwhelming. Luckily, it all starts to make more sense as you go along.

For books, Christy-Lyn has recommended Play the Harp Beautifully, Level 1, by Pamela Bruner. It is an excellent step-by-step method for beginners. I have several method books, but this one is my favorite.

As far as reading sheet music goes, I’ve added a separate post with some exercises that I found helpful. Here’s a link: Free tools to learn to read sheet music . I’ve been meaning to post that info for a couple of days now, and your question was a good reason to pull it all together.

Hi Michelle. I am brand new to it all also. I have found just using all the resources in here have been excellent. I love the way Charity-Lyn teaches and don’t want to confuse myself with different styles.
