I contacted music makers and they said it is sturdy enough to hold an iPad. I did specify a 12.9” iPad in my question to them.

My harp-desk is great. It looks beautiful on my harp and reduces the head turning from music to strings. The surfaces that clamp onto the harp pillar are lined with cork so there is no chance of damage to the harp. Be aware it will not clamp to a round pillar. Check out the videos on the Musicmakers site to see if it fits your harp. My harp column is actually tapered, being slightly wider at top than bottom, so I fixed a couple of extra thin wedges (tapered slivers) of cork on both insides of the clamp to compensate and make a good grip onto the pillar.

The harp-desk holds my small laptop. It flips around to use as a tablet, measures 12″ x 7.5″ and weighs 1.2 kg. So much more sturdy than a light weight music stand. Mine is the larger harp-desk, but will only accommodate two sheets of music or opened folder/book. It doesn’t work for laying out three sheets where you could on a regular music stand by using a cardboard backing sheet or extender and overhanging either side of the stand.

On occasions, I get buzzing happening when playing certain low strings and the vibrations go through to the music sitting on the harp-desk. I wonder if anyone else has experienced this? I can minimize it by using a sheet of felt behind my folder (or in extreme need I’ll blu-tack folder to the desk 😉

Despite these couple of minor issues, I love my harp-desk and would recommend to anyone considering buying one. 👍🏼

Another happy harp-desk user here! I have an iPad Air, so it’s pretty lightweight, but having my music at such a convenient distance to turn pages with a finger swipe is absolutely worth the price; you won’t regret it!

Thanks for asking that question. I, too, have been curious. Now it looks like this is a good item to put on my gift request list. Thanks all for your input.

Went ahead and purchased it! I’m not disappointed. It’s beautiful, takes up so much less space than my metal stand did, and fits my iPad Pro 12.9 just fine. You do have to fuss with the placement a bit to get it just right so your hand doesn’t hit it while playing low notes (maybe I just have a long pinky) and so that the balance feels right. With trial and error I was able to find the perfect spot!

Looks lovely Nicole. Compliments the harp beautifully. Glad you’re happy with it, and found the position that works best. I’ve ended up placing mine quite low so it’s not blocking people’s view of my hands.

I love my harp desk! I actually prefer to use it with an ipad, because when I use paper sheet music on it I sometimes get some buzzing which drives me nuts. lol But it’s really wonderful and liberating – I’ve always hated having to wrangle and re-position a music stand while playing harp!
