Music for the harp
Hey there. I am a beginner-(very) early intermediate player, and I’m trying to collect as many different styles of music as I can. So far I’ve got quite a lot, but there’s only style that I haven’t found a good song for. I’m still looking for a properly melancholic and sad song, one that really tugs at your heartstrings. Any and all suggestions are welcome!

“O’Carolan’s Farewell to Music” is quite sad and I think it does tug at my heartstrings. “Forgotten Summer” is a beautiful expressive piece. You can play it in a melancholy way by taking it really slow, or you can pick up speed towards the middle to make it sound more hopeful.
Josh Layne is a harpist himself. The music fits nicely in the hands and they really were composed or arranged with the harp in mind. They are nicely type set with fingering suggestions on places that are not immediately obvious. You can watch the videos at the bottom of the page to give each piece in the collection a listen. I hope “Five Solos For Lever Harp” will fit your bill!
