I am not a harp therapist or trained in harp therapy, though here are the harps recommended by the International Harp Therapy Program: http://www.harptherapyinternational.com/therapy-harps/

Hi, Just adding my $2 (inflation, you know). I have a Heartland Legend made of carbon fiber. In its case it weighs about 16 pounds. It has a lovely, mellow tone, is easy to finger with 36 nylon strings, and holds its tuning extremely well in humid, dry, wet conditions. It can be fitted with an amplifier Jack as well. I live in FLorida where a wood harp would be a pain to maintain. I love my harp. You can search YouTube for Heartland Legend harp to hear one played. Good luck finding your best harp.

I’m not an expert either, but I have heard really good things about the Marini made bass lap harp. https://www.marinimadeharps.com/bass-lap-harp.htm

jumping into this conversation…I have a Marini bass minstrel. It’s lightweight, easy to carry, has a nice big sound and stays in tune rather well. I think you would love it.

I also own a Marini Bass Harp. Really enjoy it, has a great sound. I would rather have more bass notes than high octave notes. Wanted a smaller harp for easier travel. It is not the smallest portable harp, but it is light weight and comes with 28 strings.

I would highly recommend taking a harp therapy course, not to be dramatic but, it has changed my life. After taking the Harp Therapy course I combined my training in education and created a program for children with Autism and other special needs. It is such rewarding work, the results have blown me away. You can check out my website if you are interested harptherapyconnections.com Feel free to private message me if you have any other questions or would like more information on harp therapy.

I’m interested in getting started on this harp therapy. Do you offer courses or just the book?

I know this thread is oldish… what did you find out and decide? I’m looking and see that there are several programs. I am currently working on the Public Music for Medical Environments certification at the Harp for Healing site. Once I finish I’ll decide whether to continue or if I have found my niche.

There is also MHTP.org Music for healing and transition. I am starting in December. It looks like a good program- entirely live but online. It uses zoom and has five weekend modules (four at 15 hours of instruction and the last 20) plus some reading and work with a study buddy.
