I use a Stokke Tripp Trapp chair (https://www.stokke.com/en-is/highchairs/tripp-trapp/TT03.html) in the adult setting when I play the harp. I use a stool sometimes but I much prefer having the back support.

I removed the arms from an office desk chair. It’s padded and has separate adjustments for seat height & angle, as well as back height & angle. It’s not wide enough to interfere with pulling my right elbow back for the highest strings (like when using a bow and arrow). Very comfortable.

I use this height adjustable foldable musician chair.

I have been using this chair for over 2 years now and i just love it. You can make the front legs one hole shorter than the back legs and have no pressure on the back of your thigh. That is very comfortable for long practice sessions and improves posture over-all because the pelvis is at the correct angle for an upright, effortless upper body posture. I highly recommend this chair. I broke my back in two places and this chair takes the stress off.
It is easy to store and transport, as well.

I bought a drum stool (the Basix DC-2.2). It is so nice to sit on it. OK, it doesn’t look very harpy but your back will be in the neutral position nearly automatically.

Ditto on the drummer’s stool. I am never leaning back, nor should I be, so this won’t have me get lazy. Mine is not molded though, just a plain flat top. Yours looks even better than mine!

Hi there. I would love to get one of the suggested foldable and adjustable musician chairs from Amazon. But I live in Ireland and they ask for 177 Dollar shipping costs. Does anyone know a cheaper way to buy and ship them to Ireland, please ? I have never ordered anything from the States before. Any advice would be appreciated. 🙂

    Hi,

The foldable musician chair looks great but i don’t think they would ship to Ireland (or too expensive).

I was thinking of buying one of these 3 options.

I really want back support but I don’t know what else I should be looking out for. Hoping to perform in public/outside at times.

    Thanks Lisa

I’m looking for a chair, too. Right now I’m sitting on a seat without back support. The Thomann chairs look good and they are affordable. And I have made very good experience with Thomann ordering replacement strings. Please let me know what you decide.

Hi, I just purchased a seat so will let you know how i get on. I think being at the wrong height on a chair is not helping my playing!!
